Today was my good friend Liz’s birthday. Man she invited a lot of people to her house! Pretty much all we did was eat, talk, and play Apples to Apples. Awesome. Our mutual friend Alec revealed to us the existence of a Chinese version of Star Wars: Episode III. It’s not any different apparently, other than the subtitles. So he says what happened was there was a translated version (I don’t know if he meant official or bootlegged). English subtitles to Chinese subtitles.

 

But Fu, what’s so funny about that?

Shut up, I was getting to it!

 

Yeah, worrying I know. Anyway, he said that someone switched it back. But rather than just using the original English subtitles, it was translated again. So it went from English, to Chinese, back to English.

 

I still don’t see what’s so funny about-

SHUT UP!

 

The POINT of this is that it really messed up certain lines. Specifically… remember in the end, when Vadar screams, “Nooooooooooooooo!”? Well it came back as, “Do not want!” I kid you not. Check it out. In fact, you could start at the first one and watch the whole movie in ten minute increments. It might get old, but the first two or three could be entertaining.

 

But back to the party. I didn’t see what she got for gifts, since I left early, but she said she would open mine while I was still there. Very nice of her. I was at first having trouble figuring out what the hell to get her. But then I recalled that she is in love with Helena Bonham Carter. So I went on Amazon, found a good looking movie with her in a starring role, and no retail stores had it. Mother f*****. So I went to imdb.com and wrote a bunch of her movies down. I only found one with her when we went to Best Buy. And it was a minor role. She appeared like twice as I remember. It was Big Fish. A good movie I figured, so I got it anyway. It turned out to be one of her favorite movies, and to top it all off, I had also burned her a copy of the full Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd soundtrack, which she also loved (Helena Bonham Carter singing, along with everyone else and really good music in general).

But this wasn’t just her birthday. It was also a slightly early going away party. She leaves for college on the 19th. This makes me sad, because in case you haven’t figured it out yet, I have a huge crush on her. I pretty much have since I met her, about four years ago. She has a boyfriend (Fitz or Fitzy, since his last name is Fitzpatrick), who I’m also good friends with, so I would never try to break that up. I guess I’m content to be just friends. After all, we are really good friends (as I’ve said way too many times in this blog), so I wouldn’t want to ruin that. We are going to have another movie night or two, so I’ll see her again soon.

 

… I’m going to miss her so much.
